In this year’s 10th issue of the magazine Great Gangan from the publisher Square enixIt turned out that the manga was written and illustrated by Rensuke Oshikiri, Hi Score Girl, will have a special one-shot in the next issue of the magazine on October 24th.

While Oshikiri is still releasing the spin-off manga Hi Score Girl DASH In the same magazine, the author confirmed that the next issue of the magazine will not contain a new chapter of this manga due to the release of the one-shot.

On the other hand, between October 2010 and September 2018, Oshikiri published the original manga in the Big Gangan magazine of Square Enix Publishing, and put the work together in a total of 10 volumes. Then, in December 2019, the spin-off manga Hi Score Girl DASH began to be published in the same magazine.

The original inspired a twelve-episode anime adaptation produced by the studios. JC staff in collaboration with studios SMDE, Headed by Yoshiki Yamakawa and scripts written by Tatsuhiko Urahata, released in July 2018. A second season with nine episodes premiered in October 2019.

Hi Score Girl Synopsis

The story begins in 1991 at the height of the 2D fighting game boom. Sixth grader Haruo spends most of the day in a playroom in the shabby part of town without knowing the world around him. One day, however, he meets Akira in his usual arcade, his classmate with good grades and money. She seems out of place in the playroom, but she’s actually a top notch player. Akira completely beats Haruo in a round of Street Fighter II. Your relationship begins to develop from this unlikely encounter.
