In this year’s 35th issue of the magazine Young magazine from the publisher Kodanshawas announced that the author Rensuke Oshikiri (Hi Score Girl) will publish a new one-shot manga called “DKS40” in the next issue of the magazine on August 3rd.

This one-shot manga is part of a project to mark the fortieth anniversary of Wagaman magazine, which includes a series of six one-shots published by various authors, the fourth of which is DKS40.

Oshikiri is also the author of the manga Hi Score Girlwhich he published in the magazine Monthly big gangan from the publisher Square enix between October 2010 and September 2018. The publisher has compiled the work in a total of ten volumes.

This manga inspired a 12-episode anime adaptation produced by the studios. J.C. Employee In collaboration with SMDE, Led by Yoshiki Yamakawa and scripts from Tatsuhiko Urahata, released in July 2018. A second season with nine episodes premiered in October 2019.

Hi Score Girl Synopsis

The story begins in 1991 at the height of the 2D fighting game boom. Sixth grader Haruo spends most of the day in a playroom in the rundown part of the city without knowing the world around him. One day, however, he meets Akira, his classmate with good grades and money, in his usual playroom. She seems out of place in the game room, but she’s actually a top-notch player. Akira completely beats Haruo in a round of Street Fighter II. Your relationship begins to develop from this unlikely encounter.
