It’s been a month since the New Year, a month since the beginning of 2022. So we’ve left the manga of 2021 with its tops and flops behind, but it’s already time to start thinking about the future and what the best manga is of the next year will be. The Japanese booksellers have already decided to do that Top 10 best manga of 2022.
As every year, Japanese booksellers are consulted to create a manga ranking to keep an eye on, but only take the more recent manga and with few published volumes as a reference, to keep the big names out of the sector and have one always re-ranking. . This year’s ranking sees:
- Yukinobu Tatsu’s Dandadan;
- Kaiju #8 by Naoya Tatsumoto;
- Nii Satoru’s Windbreaker;
- Blue Box by Koji Miura;
- Chi: Chikyu no Undo ni Tsuite by Uoto;
- Sakamoto Days by Yuto Suzuki;
- Uma Musume: Cinderella Gray by Sugiura Masafumi and Itou Junnosuke;
- The Elusive Samurai by Yusei Matsui;
- Wayama Yama’s The Star of the Girls’ Garden (Onna no Sono no Hoshi);
- Kujo’s Deadly Sins (Kujo no Taizai) by Shohei Manabe.
The winner is therefore Dandadan, created by an author who was a student of Tatsuki Fujimoto (Fire Punch, Chainsaw Man), from whom he took the crazy creative streak and beat the highest-rated Kaiju No.8 that’s been the talk of the last year and a half . Shonen Jump+ is therefore the winning magazine, but there are many other Shueisha titles on the list, many from the famous Weekly Shonen Jump, such as Blue Box, Sakamoto Days, and The Elusive Samurai.
A prosperous 2022 is expected for these series, which are now occupying more and more space in the crowded world of Japanese comics.
