Koyoharu Gotouge, who worked for four years on Weekly Shonen Jump, who published Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, was accompanied by a magazine-appointed editor like all the other mangaka. Especially in the early stages, i The editorial advice is important because thanks to his experience and external vision of the manga he can give valuable information such as choosing a name or changing it.

And exactly one of them was changed by Demon Slayer in the early stages: Kimetsu no Yaiba. Gotouge had originally opted for it call Tanjiro’s sword technique “Urokodaki Style Breath Technique”. A name that the editor found too cumbersome to write and read, so he recommended a simplification that has now become known: “Breath of water”.

In this way the movement became more recognizable and immediate and also guaranteed the name of the movements of the other demon hunters, which are also based on natural elements. We’ll be reviewing the Breath of Water in Demon Slayer 2, but that’s not the only technique in the anime. In fact, Rengoku Kyojuro demonstrated his strength with the breath of the flame.
