On the occasion of the reveal of Chainsaw Man’s anime, Shueisha confirmed that Tatsuki Fujimoto’s manga hit the impressive number of 11 million copies in circulation with only 11 volumes, a number that is sure to increase dramatically with the TV adaptation of MAPPA.
Chainsaw Man began serializing on the Weekly Shonen Jump pages on December 3, 2018 and ended in two years with Chapter 97. A week before the finale was released, the manga had about 5 million copies in circulation. that number practically doubled over the next six months. The milestone of 11 million printed copies will certainly not be the last to be reached by Fujimoto’s manga.
While work on the anime continues, the author has already confirmed that he is on the right track with the production of the manga sequel, which will also be released in 2021. At the moment the mangaka has only stated that it is a “completely different story” “but it is unclear whether the serialization will continue in Volume 12 or if it’s going to be a completely new comic.
