It’s time to take stock of the new original anime story arc Boruto: Naruto the next generations. This move by Studio Pierrot has been criticized by a large part of the community, tired of the usual “fillers”. In fact, the new sagas have softened and filled in the gaps in the manga: here’s why.
At the end of the encounter with Isshiki Otsutsuki, the Boruto anime series has started Second Chunin Examinationa test that puts the spotlight on the Leaf Village’s new generation of ninjas, long absent from the scene.
In this narrative arc, viewers have the opportunity to see characters like Denki, Iwabei, Wasabi or the samurai Tsubaki, the protagonists whose existence they had almost forgotten. In fact, they hadn’t actively participated in the events for almost a year since Kawaki’s debut. Next to these are the Sand trio led by Shinkie later also Kagura and the Legendary team of mist swordsmen, Protagonists of the saga in Boruto’s Land of Water.
This goes to fill one of the most important Flaws in Kishimoto and Ikemoto’s manga, which focuses almost entirely on the two heroes, Naruto and Sasuke, and their heirs, Boruto and Kawaki. After the battle with the Otsutsuki, the manga spends several chapters preparing the ground for the future battle, a battle just hinted at in Chapter 64 by Boruto. For a work subtitled Next Generations that focuses solely on two characters, even forgetting Sarada Uchiha and Mitsuki, it’s not a very sensible choice. In 2023, Boruto will adapt the Code Saga.
So here is that the anime has partially corrected the shot and given the new team 7 and all the other genin of the leaf to test themselves and prove their true worth. Do you think the new generation deserves more space? Which protagonist should stand out the most?
