The world of light novels in Japan is very active and has expanded significantly in recent years. However, Sword Art Online not only has action stories, but also romantic and fun-loving works such as Seishun Buta YarΕ wa Yume-Miru ShΕjo no Yume wo Minai, known in the West as a rascal, does not dream of a dreaming girl.
Another title he is known by is Bunny girl Senpai, a clear allusion to the protagonist Mai Sakurajima, who often takes on the appearance of a girl in a rabbit dress, sometimes completely and sometimes only with a few accessories. The series became a hit, as did the Bunny Girl Senpai film, which did well in Japan and cemented the series in fandom.
This also sparked the development of some cosplays on the theme of Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl, with Mai Sakurajima being the most popular target among cosplayers.
