The Legend of Yasuke launches on Netflix on April 29, 2021 with the first season of MAPPA's highly anticipated anime series. The streaming giant released the launch trailer a few hours ago and later director LeSean Thomas spoke about the number of episodes and which possible extension for a second season.

First that was confirmed The first season of the anime will only consist of 6 episodes, not new when you consider that almost all of the anime produced by Netflix such as Castlevania, DOTA: Dragon's Blood and Dragon's Dogma have received a first season consisting of a minimum of 4 to a maximum of 8 episodes.

LeSean Thomas said he was very pleased with the job but denied the rumors that there was talk of a guaranteed extension of the second season these days: "At the moment I can't really speak in depth about this, but I can say the fan reception was fantastic and I would love to see the anime get more of what it is. Right now I'm just looking forward to finding out how the first season is going to be received, but of course I would be very happy if I can keep working on it if it goes well".

Netflix tends to smoothly renew series that are recording promising numbers regardless of reviews. DOTA: Dragon's Blood was renewed three weeks after the launch and greeted Yasuke and the views of the first trailer. It is very likely that this series will also have a second seasonunless it turns out to be a real flop.
