On the official page for the animated adaptation of Yuri genre novels by Iori Miyazawa, Urasekai picnic ((Picnic on the other side) the cover and details of the project’s first Blu-ray package were revealed.
This compilation pack contains the first through sixth episodes of this animation project and will be released on May 26 at a price of 19,800 yen (approximately $ 190). Benefits include a sixty-page booklet of illustrations, a CD with the original soundtrack, and audio commentary.
The series has been on the air in Japan since last January and will be confirmed with a total of twelve episodes, which will be distributed in the west by the platform Funimation. The light novels also contain a manga adaptation by hand Eita Mizuno, published since February 2018.
Production team
- Takuya Satou ((Asagao to Kase-san, Dounika Naru Hibi, Ichigo Mashimaro) is responsible for directing the anime in the studios EYE FILMS Y. Felix filmand is also responsible for writing the scripts.
- Ayumi Nishibata ((Shirobako, glass slip, Nagi no Asu Kara) is responsible for the character design and the direction of animation.
- Takeshi Watanabe ((To Love-Ru, Ro-kyu-bu!) is responsible for composing the soundtrack.
Synopsis of the Urasekai picnic
The “Otherworld” is a vast and dangerous realm that remains hidden from the knowledge of the common people. It is also home to many creatures that threaten anyone who dares to visit it. To witness its desolate but strangely absorbing surroundings, one must look for portals that can be anywhere from secret elevators to entrances to shrines.
After a fateful encounter with a terrible resident of the Otherworld, Sorao Kamikoshi wonders whether to move on or to give up life. Meanwhile, Toriko Nishina wanders the Other World in the hope of finding her friend Satsuki, who she believes is lost somewhere in the realm.
When the two cross, friendship blossoms. To get most of the information about this dark dimension, the two travel from one side of the real world to the other. Sorao’s and Toriko’s bodies will soon be influenced by the Otherworld, preparing them for the many horrors that will come as they both try to achieve their goals.
