Weekly Shonen Jump is a weekly Japanese manga magazine made famous by publishing some of the world’s most popular manga series including Dragon Ball, ONE PIECE, bleaching and Naruto. Founded in 1968, the magazine has a predominantly young and male readership with an average age of around 20 years.
Weekly Shonen Jump has influenced Japanese and global pop culture, spawning some of the most popular manga series of all time. The magazine remains a point of reference for manga fans around the world, offering new series, characters and exciting adventures for many years thanks to the genius of its authors. Writers who are obviously growing up, becoming colleagues, getting to know each other, and sometimes even dating.
As during the preview of the 2018 Jump exhibition, held to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Weekly Shonen Leap. On this occasion, seven mangaka gathered, four of whom had their photo portrayed, see this photo below. But who are the immortal authors? From left to right we have Hiroshi Shiibashi (Lord of the Monsters, Illegal Rare, Yui Kamio Let’s Loose), Riichiro Inagaki (author of Eyeshield21 and Dr. Stone), Yoshiyuki Nishi (Muhyo & Roji) and finally Tite Kubo from Bleach and Burn the Witch.
Also attending the meeting were Koyoharu Gotouge (Demon Slayer) and Ryuhei Tamura (Beelzebub, Hungry Marie, Hardboiled Cop, and Dolphin), while the photo was posted by Kenta Shinohara (Sket Dance, Astra Lost in Space, Witch Watch). Today, mangakas are less and less likely to show their face in public, while in the past it was common, even on the covers of Weekly Shonen Jump.
Since this image resurfaced online, let’s explain: It was taken and posted by Kenta Shinohara in 2018.
