After releasing a mysterious promotional image intended to herald the arrival of a new formation of the Thunderbolts, Marvel Comics has unraveled the mystery with the announcement “Thunderbolts,” a five-issue miniseries that will feature an unprecedented team led by Clint Barton, Hawkeye.
“Have super-powered criminals taken hostages on Staten Island? Will a dimensional portal open in Chinatown? Monsters Wreaking Havoc at the Met? Call the thunder!‘ reads the synopsis published by Marvel Comics. Screenwriter Jim Zub and artist Sean Izaakse will be responsible for the narration the adventures of this new Thunderbolts teamformed by Spectrum, America Chavez, Power Man, Persuasion and Gutsen Glory, a new character, in addition to Clint Barton of course.
“Writing Thunderbolts was my first job in the Marvel Universe and the same goes for Sean Izaakse, so it was a real honor to be able to bring out a new team version for the 25th anniversary.“explains Zub.”I’m thrilled to be able to put Clint Barton, Monica Rambeau, America Chavez and a few others to the test as New York’s only official superhero team. I’ve incorporated many of the ideas I’ve had over the years into this series. Lots of action and fun, drama, comedy and of course a few twists and turns to keep readers engaged. Sean’s illustrations have never looked so good, and his artistry enriches the colossal Marvel Universe. Launching in May 2022, the miniseries will follow the aftermath of Devil’s Reign, the ending of which promises major upheaval for the Marvel Universe. One of them seems to be the presence of Thunderbolts as the only superhero group authorized to operate in New York.
