The YouTube user “Mewcifer”Posted a video showing this part of the final sequence of the animated series by Crispy roll, Spice of the High Guardian, has references to the anime’s opening sequence Azumanga Daioh. The user wrote: «As soon as I started watching High Guardian Spice, I realized that the ending seemed kind of familiar to me. I couldn’t get it out of my head and realized that it reminded me of the beginning of Azumanga Daioh. I found it quite interesting, so I wanted to compare the two in a video».
However, he also pointed out that this was not an allegation of plagiarism: «I think my intention for the video was wrong, but that’s up to me, not you (the writing and the way I edited the video). I don’t think the team working on High Guardian Spice had any malicious intent with this or any other similarities within the series. I think that in the case of the closing sequence, they may have been inspired by or wanted to pay tribute to Azumanga Daioh. High Guardian Spice isn’t the first series to do this, and it won’t be the last either. My intention was more like, “Damn, this sounds familiar. I wonder if anyone else noticed, ”and then I wanted to compare the two. I think my only problem is the resemblance of some characters’ poses, like Sage for example. Which makes it look like a possible copy, although it was most likely not by design. But that’s just me».
