It’s still a few months to a year since production of a second season of the anime adaptation of the manga was announced. Vinland sagaand it turns out that the character designer Takahiko Abiru noticed this situation and decided to post an update on Twitter accompanied by a special illustration of the franchise:

Β«Before I knew it, it had been a long time since we announced production of Season 2. We are progressing the production of the anime day by day, so we appreciate your patience a little longer.Β», wrote the designer. To date, no production details or an estimated release date have been confirmed for this second season.

Vinland saga

Makoto Yukimura The manga’s publication began in the magazine Weekly Shōnen Magazine from the publisher Kodansha in April 2005 and later moved to the magazine Monthly Afternoon in December 2005. The play inspired a 24-episode anime adaptation produced by WIT studioLed by Shuhei Yabuta and scripts written by Hiroshi Seko Y Kenta Iharareleased in July 2019. A second season is confirmed, and the director Shuhei Yabuta confirms that the production team “almost the sameβ€œ.

Summary of the Vinland saga

Thorfinn, son of one of the Vikings’ greatest warriors, is one of the finest fighters in the merry band of mercenaries led by the wily Askeladd. However, Thorfinn is not part of the group due to the looting involved, instead the boy, having caused great tragedy to his family, has vowed to kill Askeladd in a fair duel. Thorfinn spends his childhood with the mercenary crew, honing his skills on the battlefield among the Danes, where killing is just another zest for life.

When Askeladd receives news that the Danish prince Canute has been taken hostage, he hatches an ambitious plan: one that will determine the next King of England and drastically change the lives of Thorfinn, Canute and his own. Set in 11th-century Europe, Vinland Saga tells a gory epic at a time when violence, madness and injustice are inevitable, and offers a paradise for battle-crazed Hell and the rest that inhabit it.
