On the official website for the anime Sazae-san, recognized worldwide for being the longest-lived in the history of the industry, it was announced that the series will resume its regular broadcast starting next Sunday, June 21.
Previously, anime streaming had to be suspended due to production issues related to the pandemic situation in Japan. The current delay of new episodes for the series is the first time since 1975, 45 years ago, that the anime had to resort to repeating old episodes because back then, they no longer had new chapters produced.
Sazae-san was created by the cartoonist Machiko Hasegawa and began its broadcast on October 5, 1969, counting to date with more than 8100 episodes.
The series was based on the manga with the same name, which was initially drawn by Hasegawa until his retirement in 1974. The story tells of the family life of Sazae Isono, who married Masuo Fuguta and his son Tara-Chan. The anime shows Sazae's coexistence with some members of his family such as his parents, his younger brothers, in-laws, brothers-in-law and nephews.
