When Weekly Shonen Jump announced the start of a new series titled The Promised Neverland, a preview appeared with three scowling children. It was only necessary to wait a few more days in this year 2016 to understand that The Promised Neverland had potential. The two rookies Posuka and Shirai hit the mark.
Despite the lack of experience with Weekly Shonen Jump, the two managed to tell the readers a thick story, albeit not without flaws and hiccups, as evidenced by our review of The Promised Neverland. However, it remains one of the most important series of recent times and for this reason it will be remembered for several years after its end.
A post appeared on the official Twitter account celebrates six years of The Promised Neverland. Kaiu Shirai and Demizu Posuka’s series launched on Weekly Shonen Jump in August 2016 and now, six years later, has sold a total of 41 million copies worldwide, a respectable number considering the series only has 20 volumes. Due to the occasion Sensei Posuka made an illustration with the three children Spiral stairs up into a huge library and then inserted the three grown up, smiling and perky protagonists.
In addition, Chapter 66 of The Promised Neverland will be made available for free on the Shonen Jump+ digital service. A good way to celebrate the series which sadly had no anime to date.
