A press release confirmed that the manga was written and illustrated by Souichirou Yamamaoto, Kunoichi Tsubaki no Mune no Uchi (In the heart of Tsubaki Kunoichi), will have an anime adaptation. The statement revealed the production team and confirmed that the premiere is scheduled for 2022 in Japan.

Yamamoto started publishing the manga in the magazine Monthly Shonen Sunday from the publisher Shogakukan in January 2018. The publisher published the fourth compiled volume in January 2020, followed by the fifth in August 2020 in Japan. This is the author’s third work Souichirou Yamamoto which will have an anime adaptation in 2022, alongside Soredemo Ayumu wa Yosetekuru (When will Ayumu make his move?) and the third season of Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san (Tease Master Takagi-san).

Production team

  • Yuuko Natsuyoshi (Sasha Necron in Maou Gakuin no Futekigousha) plays the main character Kunoichi Tsubaki.
  • Takudai-Kakuchi (3-gatsu no Lion 2nd season, Jashin-chan Dropkick, Tokyo Autumn Session) is responsible for directing the anime in the studios Kleewerk.
  • Konomi Shugo (Aikatsu friends !, Iwa-Kakeru! -Sport climbing girl-) is responsible for writing and maintaining the scripts.
  • Yousuke okuda (Blend S, Conception, Is the Order a Rabbit ?, Shironeko Project: Zero Chronicle) is responsible for character design and animation direction.
  • Yusuke Shirato (Gyakuten Sekai no Denchi Shoujo) is responsible for composing the soundtrack.
