That was a matter of course even before the screening Evangelion 3.0 + 1.0 would have been a commercial success for the cinemas and the speakers of the Khara studio. The grueling work of Hideaki Anno, which has generated so much hype not only in Japan but also in the rest of the world over the years, hit Japanese cinemas in January 2021 after numerous postponements.

And even in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic and the explosion of Demon Slayer Movie: Infinity Train, which controlled the top positions for several weeks, Evangelion 3.0 + 1.0: Thrice Upon a Time managed to cut out a large part of the audience. In recent weeks Evangelion 3.0 + 1.0 tore down the wall of $ 70 million raised, more precisely $ 74 million. This made Evangelion the most productive film in the world with Japanese revenues alone.

  • Evangelion: 1.0 You are (not) alone totaled $ 20.12 million worldwide;
  • Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance won 44;
  • Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo has finally made $ 67.2 million worldwide.

As can be seen from the numbers, Evangelion 3.0 + 1.0: Broke all previous box office records three times the franchise with the only Japanese release. Given the pandemic that has greatly slowed the global film market, Evangelion is currently among the top 10 most watched films worldwide in 2021.
