The platform Netflix confirmed through its official media that the video game Cyberpunk 2077 will inspire an anime adaptation titled Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. The series will be produced by the studios Trigger and it has its premiere scheduled for 2022.

The original game is being developed by CD Projekt Red and it will be released for Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC on November 19.

Production team

  • Hiroyuki Imaishi (Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, Kill la Kill, Promare) is in charge of directing the anime in the studios Trigger, with the assistance of Masahiko Otsuka and the creative director Hiromi Wakabayashi.
  • Yoh Yoshinari (Little Witch Academia, Brand New Animal) and Yuto Kaneko are in charge of character design.
  • Yoshiki Usa (SSSS.Gridman, Promare) and Masahiko Otsuka They are in charge of writing and supervising the scripts.
  • Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill) is responsible for the composition of the soundtrack.

Cyberpunk Synopsis: Edgerunners

The ten-episode series tells the story of a boy who lives on the street as he tries to survive in a futuristic world obsessed with high-tech and body modifications. With nothing else to lose, this boy decides to continue living becoming an edgerunner, a mercenary who are also known as "cyberpunk".
