After 11 years of serialization that put Hajime Isayama at the forefront of manga culture, The attack of the giants finally came to an end with chapter 139. Predictably, however, fans were split between those who liked the ending and those who weren’t entirely satisfied.
One of the biggest problems was the leakage of news that had flooded the network of spoilers in the finale of The Attack of the Giants a few hours before the chapter was released. In addition, the criticism of the message management has been closed with a few open questions forced the manga editor to block comments on their posts.
The editorial staff of Bessatus Shonen Magazine, the magazine that has accompanied Isayama’s masterpiece all along, added a touching message at the end of the following chapter:
“”This world, which only existed in 2009, was translated into texts and images that gave it meaning, turned it into a story, printed in the first issue of Bessatus Shonen magazine and serialized by Hajime Isayama for 11 years and 7 months. But that doesn’t mean that 11 years and 7 months alone was good news as the series dealt with problems, moments of sadness, and even goodbyes. Nevertheless, we are convinced that nothing is more valuable than the ability of people to partake of emotions, which cannot be written down in history. It makes us happy to be able to experience these feelings together with readers and colleagues during the attack of the giants. However, this series has finally come to an end and these memories will remain to warm our hearts. Thank you for reading. Our struggle has only just begun. “
A message of thanks also for a job that has helped popularize the magazine in Japan and around the world. And you, what do you think of those words instead? Let us know with a comment below.
