A press release confirmed that light novels by Yuu Tanaka and illustrated by LLO, Tensei Shitara Ken deshita (Reborn as a sword) will have an anime adaptation. The information in the title of the third compilation volume of the spin-off manga by Hinako inou, Tensei Shitara Ken Deshita: Another wish. The announcement did not reveal any production details or a release date.

Yuu Tanaka began publishing the original novels through the independent service Shousetsuka ni Narou in October 2015, and they are still in the process of being published. It was later published by the publisher Micro magazine in July 2016, the twelfth volume will be released on September 24th in Japan.
In addition to the spin-off manga from Hinako inou, Tensei Shitara Ken Deshita: Another wish, the work inspired his direct adaptation of Manga by the hand of Tomowo Maruyamawhich is published through the service Comic boost from the publisher Gentosha since December 2016.
Summary of Tensei Shitara Ken deshita
The hero differs from the usual protagonists of the Isekai stories in that he is reborn as a sword. He begins his search by appearing in the middle of a forest full of beasts and he meets a wounded girl who is desperately fleeing for her life. When she saves them from their attackers, the couple meet and the girl introduces herself as Fran. He has a troubled past having been enslaved and abused by his tribe, the Black Cats. Since the hero can no longer remember the name of his past life, the young and stubborn Fran gives him the name “Shishou” and becomes its bearer. After that, Shishou and Fran become a formidable team that embarks on missions to free the oppressed and bring justice.
