Steins; Gate synopsis

The self-proclaimed mad scientist Rintarou Okabe rents a room in an old building in Akihabara, where he and his laboratory colleagues Mayuri Shiina and Hashida Itaru indulge in his hobby of inventing possible "devices of the future". The three spend a lot of time playing with their most promising item to date, the "microwave phone," which has the strange function of turning bananas into piles of green gel.

While the phenomenon is wonderful in itself, it doesn't provide anything concrete for Okabe's scientific research, or so they believed, until members of the lab discovered that the microwave phone can actually send emails into the past, changing the flow of history.
