As previously announced on the official website for the next movie based on the manga, written and illustrated by Takehiko Inoue, slam dunk, the project's first promotional video was unveiled. The video confirms that the premiere is scheduled for next December 3rd in Japan, namely Toei animation has again opted for 3DCG animation, just like with Dragon Ball Super: Superhero.

Inoue published the manga in the magazine Weekly shōnen jump from the publisher shueisha between October 1990 and June 1996 with a total of 31 compilation volumes. The play inspired a 101-episode anime adaptation produced by the studios. Toei animationLed by Nobutaka Nishizawa and scripts written by Nobuaki Kishimareleased in October 1993.

Slam dunk synopsis

Hanamichi Sakuragi, notorious for his hot temper, enormous height, and fiery red hair, enrolls in Shohoku High School in hopes of finally getting a girlfriend and ending his losing streak of fifty rejections. However, his notoriety precedes him, causing most students to avoid him. Shortly thereafter, after certain events, Hanamichi is left with two unshakable thoughts: "I hate basketball" and "I desperately need a girlfriend".

One day, not knowing anything about his temperament, a girl named Haruko Akagi approaches him and asks if he likes basketball. Hanamichi falls in love with her instantly and gives a fervent affirmation. So they both go to the gym where she asks him to do a slam dunk (a mate or pin) but Hanamichi overdoes it and hits the board. However, his superhuman physical abilities have opened new doors for him in his life.
