Over the years the video game world has encountered the animation industry several times, just think of Pokémon, one of the most profitable franchises in the world, and Netflix's latest Castlevania, inspired by the Konami series of the same name. The last project that received special attention was Shenmue The animation.

The history of Ryo Hazuki, originally conceived for the Sega Dreamcast by Yu Suzuki, has managed to conquer millions of players around the world, especially for the freedom to interact with the game world, a feature that marked the birth of the genre Full Reactive Eyes entertainment, whose model was later followed by the Yakuza series.

During the New York Comic-Con 2021 The team of animators and producers behind the animated adaptation of Shenmue unveiled the first official trailer, then reveals three aspects of the plot and the setting. The first piece of information concerns the material considered, and it is about several pages with background stories, not adapted in the final version of the video game, which has helped to further expand the narrative universe of the anime.

Secondly The story will be linear, but will attempt to reproduce many of the many aspects of its video game counterpart, thus showing the interaction between Ryo and many of the game's NPCs. After all, the places where the story will take place will be mainly Kowloon, Hong Kong and Yokosuka.

Pending new production information, we leave the review of Shenmue 1 & 2 to you.
