Record of Ragnarok, the anime based on the excellent manga Shinya Umemura, has finally landed on Netflix after months of waiting, but the result doesn’t seem to have met all fans’ expectations. Despite the excellent quality of the dubbing and the fantastic drawings the series appears to have several animation issues, and the initial reviews are far from positive.

At the time of writing, Record of Ragnarok has an average rating of 6.7 / 10 MyAnimeList and 66/100 on AniList, two of the most popular anime review sites for western audiences. The series was destroyed by the vast majority of users on Reddit, while the reviews on Twitter are mixed, even if the criticisms clearly outweigh the praise. You can see some of the comments below.

According to critics of the series the main problem would be the quality of the animations, sometimes too static for a work with so much action, but there is no lack of criticism of the tempo and the exaggerated dialogues. The situation is very similar to last April’s La via del Apron, another Netflix anime that has been criticized for the excessive presence of pans and low-quality animation.
