Pokémon and theories, as we all know, always went hand in hand, just like Ash and Pikachu. In the fourth film in the series, Pokémon 4Ever, Ash Ketchum’s encounter with a young time traveler named Sam may have sparked one of the most iconic pop culture duos of all time.
One of the most compelling Pokémon theories explains that the encounter between Ash and Pikachu was not caused by a simple broken alarm clock, but by a plan made by Professor Oak himself from when he was just a simple child named Sam who was carried into the future by a Celebi.
The story of how Pikachu became Ash’s companion Pokémon has always been unnatural. It is not so obvious that, instead of donating other starters to future coaches, Professor Oak Instead, keep a Pikachu as a backup.
Oak is also aware that this Pikachu is difficult to use and, as far as he knew at the time, Ash didn’t look like a promising young trainer, even considering he slept through the most important day of his life.
It almost seems like it’s there something more behind Pikachu’s trust in Ash However, Pokémon 4Ever may have answers not only about why Professor Oak had a Pikachu, but also why he allowed Ash to get it.
In the film, a boy named Sam was later revealed to be the a young Samuel Oak, is carried 40 years into the future to the present of the series from Celebi. Here she meets Ash and the two quickly become friends while they try to protect Celebi together.
During the film, Sam sketches Pikachu and Celebi sleeping next to each other and the film ends with that Professor Oak looks back at the sketchTelling himself that he remembers it like it was yesterday. Hence, Professor Oak has always known that the little boy who was late in the first episode of the anime was the same boy he and Celebi had known as a child.
This puts his relationship with Ash in a whole new context and explains because the Professor always treated Ash with a certain privilege. Recalls the relationship between this boy and his Pikachu, the professor he could have made this future possible, also received a Pikachu.
The idea that Ash and Pikachu were reunited by a time paradox is pretty plausible. The only problem with this theory is that it is based on the idea that Pokémon movies are canon and there has never been much evidence that they are, but not even that they are not.
