The amount of secrets and revelations waiting to be revealed on the pages of ONE PIECE They are countless. So many in total that they paint Eiichiro Oda’s masterpiece of enigmatic and fascinating nuances that we can’t wait to finally get to know them.
According to Oda and his editor, there are approx. 5 years separating the manga from its endand there are still too many questions to be answered. One of these concerns Luffy’s family in particular, of which little or nothing is known. However, if we have fragmented the news about the mother, we know what concerns the father Commander in Chief of the Revolutionary Army and is known worldwide as Monkey D. dragon.
A fan, of course PerpetualWSOLhe tried to study the character in question through a fascinating theory, assuming that his tattoos represent the 5 suns. He is therefore the wyvern who will be able to usher in a new era (as Luffy’s father) and the connection between heaven and earth (the revolutionary army) while maintaining control over time (in relation to manipulating the Winds, probably its power).
His abstract tattoos are reminiscent of those of the Shandia tribe in Skypiea, a signal that could somehow link the mysterious symbols tattooed on the body to it Atzec mythology by Quetzalcoatl. The 5 suns in particular would suggest this prophecy in which he sees Luffy the symbol of the new era much quoted in one piece.
According to the myth associated with Quetzalcoatl, his arrival would mark the end of an era, which is why Monkey D. Dragon is much sought after by the Navy as the most dangerous criminal in the world. It is also interesting to note how the wyvern (a kind of snake dragon) is viewed as a western being, in stark contrast to the eastern dragon represented by Kaido. Adapting it to the context of ONE PIECE, it is possible that Dragon has in the past carried out some important actions for the people of Skypiea that would have given the leader of the Revolutionary Army, as a reward, some knowledge to take the heavenly dragons into the to bring back the earthly world (the heaven-earth connection).
As if that wasn’t enough, Quetzalcoatl even has wind-related powers that Dragon is said to have. The last detail, but not in the order of its importance, concerns the flagship of his ship, which is a kind of wyvern.
