At the beginning of September 2022, the French publisher JBE Books presented the world with a complete edition of the first 102 volumes ONE PIECE, collected in a gigantic volume of more than 21,000 pages. An initiative that immediately caught the attention of fans, but turned out not to be authorized by Shueisha.

Keita Murano, a member of the Japanese publisher's International Rights and Licensing department, told reporters from The Guardian: "the product... is not official. We have not given them permission to publish and sell it. In France, the ONE PIECE license is in the hands of the publisher Glenat".

Such a statement would suggest the immediate withdrawal from the market of the 50 volumes produced, conceived and sold by artist Ilan Manouach Price of 1900 euros one, but for a legal sophistry, copyright laws don't seem to apply. In fact, according to a spokesman for JBE Books, the volume would not infringe any copyright as it is physically unreadable due to its size and weight.

Originally presented as a material manifestation of the possibilities offered by fans' digital interaction with professional works and works, the volume was intended to be Icon for comic book depiction as big data, but it has become a simple unauthorized product, let alone an official one.
