I Chapters 1043 and 1044 of ONE PIECE contain some of the most important events of the entire series conceived by Eiichiro Oda. The true nature of the devil fruit that Luffy ingested as a child and the references to Nika, the god of the sun, actually caused a distortion of events and created a big surprise.
That The gom-gom fruit turned out to be a homo-homo model of the nika fruit, which would allow Luffy, now believed to be Joy Boy’s reincarnation since the mysterious man had also eaten this fruit, to draw on impressive skills, both offensively and defensively. But who is the deity named Nika? We try to answer by analyzing all the details leaked so far.
A valuable source of information was the Story from Who’s Who during his fight with Jinbe, in Chapter 1018. The story goes back to when he was a prisoner of the world government shortly after he failed in his mission: to protect the fruit stolen by Shanks.
One of the guards told Who’s Who about a legendary warrior, dedicated to the struggle for the freedom of slaves and less respected peoples, especially for fish people. Impressed by the stories, the prisoner began praying to Nika for his own freedom, but at the same time the guard who had told him about divinity disappeared. Who’s Who was certain that the world government was behind the incident, wanting to keep the details secret.
Nika’s true identity is currently unknown, but some details about her appearance are known: long arms and flexible limbs like Luffy’s, hair like fire and a big smile. The reason for Nika’s association with the sun is unclear, perhaps comparable to the belief many peoples manifested in the real past when concepts such as power, wealth, and guidance into a bright future were associated with the sun.
Another hypothesis, more in line with the cosmogony of ONE PIECE, is: Nika was a Lunariancapable of controlling fire, but the lack of wings, which is ubiquitous in the species King belongs to, makes that affiliation unlikely.
Another rather interesting detail is Nika’s hair color, presumably white, also based on Luffy’s design in the last few chapters. The fire must reach the threshold between 1400 and 1600 degrees Celsius or have a concentration of magnesium sulphate for the flames to turn white. take back the title of sun god, the sun burns at about 5505 degrees Celsius, meaning that while it looks orange or yellow to us, its flames are actually white. That would justify the title of sun god and Nika’s hair color.
Also surprising is the extreme flexibility and rubberiness of the fruit, it was not stated whether Nika was born with such powers or if he acquired them in any way. Finally, according to some, Joy Boy would be a reincarnation of Nika, an interesting hypothesis that however currently does not seem to be confirmed by any detail, except Proximity to fish people and the commitment of both to fight for their freedom.
