It has long been known that there is a very special book in the world of ONE PIECE. In fact, many characters seem to know by heart the name, shape, and properties of Devil Fruit, those legendary and unique foods that, when eaten, bestow a very special power in exchange for the impossibility of swimming. And the reason is just a book.
Or rather, more books. Vegapunk actually claims there are several Devil Fruit Encyclopedias and the scientist himself mentions one recently, in one of the final chapters of ONE PIECE. The old man who fled the battle has returned to his lab, where his satellites and the rest of the Straw Hat crew are. He watches the scene and asks what exactly happened to Luffy, which he later reveals in the oldest book of devil fruits there is no gom gom fruit. The days when Who’s Who revealed they wore it and when it seemed a fruit of little interest seem long gone.
However, as we have seen, it is actually the Frutto Homo Homo model Nika, e.g Vegapunk doesn’t take long to find a connection between this mythological figure and the transformation that Luffy underwent. However, it seems that this fruit is not even mentioned in an old devil fruit encyclopedia, since Vegapunk starts to tell about a legend and not about the characteristics of the Nika model homo homo.
Basically it looks like this The old book of devil fruits was censored by the world government and hence there may be no information about other important fruits, in contrast to other ancient texts which mention Nika instead. Not even the genius is therefore able to really explain everything.
