The color pages of Eiichiro Oda they hardly focus on the current story of ONE PIECE. Unlike other mangaka, which take the opportunity for some almost unique ones by suggesting the characters in action in the latest contexts, the bestselling manga author portrays Luffy and his companions in unique settings and poses.

For example, in Chapter 1019 of ONE PIECE, Oda decided to create a summer color page with all the characters on the waves, certainly not a feasible scene during the Onigashima War. Recently, he proposed a poster featuring ONE PIECE’s most popular characters as rated by the global popularity poll. In the recently published chapter on MangaPlus, however the author has given himself to the world of video games.

Luffy and his companions grapple with pad fights and famous attacks. Obviously Oda filled the color with a lot of references, let’s see what they are:

  • Luffy is Ken from Street Fighter;
  • Zoro is Link from The Legend of Zelda;
  • Sanji has a clue about Splatoon;
  • Chopper could be a reference to Pokémon Pikachu;
  • Nico Robin is a demon like Morrigan from Darkstalkers;
  • Franky is a blatant reference to Donkey Kong;
  • Brook, on the other hand, could be a character from Dragon Quest;
  • Jinbe finally has Super Mario clothes.

The other two members of the crew, Usopp and Nami, are instead the ones who all control with the joystick and maybe cover the figure of the streamers on Twitch and other platforms. You found others References to video games in the color ONE PIECE 1028?
