The Universe of Sandman, the famous 1988 comic by Neil Gaiman, is enriched with a new regular series: DC Comics has indeed announced Nightmare Country, a chilling adventure starring The Corinthian, written by screenwriter James Tynion IV, accompanied by artist Lisandro Esherren.

Nightmare Country is represented a new piece in the already rich mosaic represented by the mythology of the Sandman, which will soon debut in live-action thanks to the Netflix adaptation (here is the first trailer of The Sandman).

The Corinthian is back. Unleashing one of Dream’s worst nightmares, as well as a seasoned serial killer, is a dangerous decision… but necessary as another nightmare roams America – a monster that Dream, the lord of all nightmares, failed to create.‘ reads the synopsis published by DC Comics.

The Sandman is the series that made me want to be a comic book writer‘ explains Tynion.’Growing up, I loved reading the stories of costumed heroes and villains, but the stories I wanted to put down on paper unfolded in different genres, and I became convinced that I could only write them in prose. Until I got my hands on the first volume of Sandman early in high school, discovered the immense potential of a comic and finally decided to dedicate my life to creating comics.“.

Nightmare Country will be a horror series, and will introduce two new characters to the Sandman universe, Mr. Agony and Mr. Ecstasy, who will play the role of the series’ villain.

The Sandman Universe: Nightmare Land #1 will be released on April 12, 2022 in the USA. In anticipation of the Netflix series’ debut, here are 5 things The Sandman series can’t miss.
