In his 36 years he has Studio Ghibli has produced some of the most important and influential works of Japanese animation, creating characters that have become true icons, like the giant raccoon Totoro of the 1988 film of the same name, recently honored by a great cartoonist who worked for Marvel and DC.
The style and the unique atmosphere of the film My Neighbor Totoro, directed by Hayao Miyazaki, have also won over the British artist Jim Cheung, most famous for New Avengers: Illuminati, and for signing many covers for some of the most famous Marvel superheroes, who dedicated a very faithful drawing to Totoro.
Cheung has the on his personal Instagram page beautiful illustration which you can see at the bottom of the news, accompanied by a message of affection and admiration for the work of Studio Ghibli. The cartoonist defines himself as a great lover of Miyazaki’s work, and he recognizes Totoro as one of his favorite characters, with whom he was linked from an early age, immediately after seeing the film for the first time on a rainy day in Hong Kong.
