Shuichi Shigeno’s precarious health has forced the mangaka and Weekly Young Magazine to pause publication of his series MF spirit. As he awaits the return of the manga series, Inital D’s spiritual heir revs up the engines to celebrate the upcoming premiere of the animated adaptation.
The third promotional video for the anime MF Ghost has been released on the official sites of the series. That Trailer lays the foundation for the narrativeintroduces the new voice cast members and confirms the guest appearances of some characters from the prequel Initial D.
MF Ghost takes place in a year 2020 where meanwhile the Self-driving electric cars have replaced classic combustion engines. However, an automobile competition intended for classic cars still exists. Founded by Ryosuke Takahashi of Initial D, MFG is home to rookie Kanata Katagiri, a boy of British origin who has to do battle in his Toyota GT86 with exotic cars like the Lamborghini Huracan Performante, Ferrari 488 GTB, Lotus Exige, Alfa Romeo 4C and the Porsche 911 Carrera. To even out the inequality of means, talent will be at the forefront of kanata, Trained by legendary pilot Takumi Fujiwara. The protagonist’s motive is only one, to find his father vanished into thin air.
Kanata is voiced by voice actor Yuuma Uchida. Ayane Sakura voices Ren Saionj while Junichi Suwabe plays Kaito Akaba. The adaptation team is working on Animation studio Felix Film Studiosstarring Tomohito Naka as Director, Kenichi Yamashita as Writer and Script Supervisor in collaboration with Akihiro Inari and Naoyuki Onda as Head of Character Designs and Animation Director.
