Marvel Comics has posted a trailer on Youtube to accompany the launch of Marvel’s Voices Heritage, behold Special celebrating the Native American superheroes. Marvel’s initiative isn’t just about celebrating the Indigenous superheroes of the United States: the artists called upon to tell their stories are also of Indigenous origin.
Marvel’s Voices is a series created by Marvel to celebrate minorities, favoring inclusivity. For example, previous releases have celebrated Black populations, Asian populations, and the LGBTQ+ community. This is the second comic to celebrate Native Americans, following Marvel’s Voices: Indigenous Voices, which was released in 2020.
The stories included in Marvel’s Voices Heritage are written by Jim Terry, Rebecca Roanhorse and Shaun Beyale, Nyla Innuksuk and Natasha Donovan, Steven Paul Judd and David Cutler.
Great the protagonist of this one-shot will be Maya Lopez, a character who recently debuted in live action in the Hawkeye series, in which she was played by Indigenous actress Alaqua Cox. Soon this character will star in a Disney+ series of his own called Echo. In the comics, Maya Lopez currently owns and represents the Phoenix Force one of the most powerful superheroes in the Marvel Universe.
Marvel’s Voice’s legacy, whose trailer is proposed at the beginning of the article, is already available in the United States. On the subject of Maya Lopez, it appears that the Punisher and Daredevil writers will be covering the Echo Show, although the rumor is unconfirmed.
