Fifty years ago, the emblematic green jacket worn first appeared on Japanese television Lupine III the disrespectful thief from Monkey Punch, freely inspired by Arsenio Lupine by Maurice Leblanc. Gosho Aoyama and other artists who have become icons of Japanese animation wanted to celebrate this milestone.
How many of you know the small but experienced detective, Conan Edogawa, a character born from the time of Aoyama himself, met the notorious thief several times, in the television special Lupine III vs. Detective Conan and in the sequel Lupine the Third vs. Detective Conan, both very popular with fans of the two series. For this special connection between the two characters, Aoyama has the special design with the beautiful Fujiko. designedwhich you can see below.
He was supported by other artists, such as the animator Kazuhide Tomonaga, who worked on the animated series of Lupine for years and who signed the drawing classic style of the protagonist with jigen and the unforgettable yellow 500. Ryota Kosawa, screenwriter of the anime Great Pretender, available on Netflix, and actor Tadanobu Asano also helped celebrate the 50th anniversary of Lupine III, with the illustrations shown below.
