Summary of Kidou Senkan Nadesico: The Prince of Darkness

Akito doesn’t want to fight. Although he spent his childhood watching the anime Gekiganger 3, a mecha show, he’d rather cook than control a mecha. Fate intervenes when his home on Mars is destroyed, and he is instantly mysteriously transported to Earth. He has questions that no one can fully answer, but he follows a girl from a chance encounter in hopes of discovering a few. The girl Yurika is the captain of the private battleship Nadesico, and to follow her she hires herself as a cook.

It is a practical attempt to reinforce the wicks of the Nadesico through the nanocyte implants that allow control of the wicks. He joins a crew out to avenge Mars that appears to be all outsiders, otakus, and fools; in reality, however, they are hand-picked experts. They are waging their own private war to Mars to face the harsh reality that life cannot always be like a Giant Mecha series.
