Regarded for many years as the undisputed master of horror in manga and anime, Junji Ito has been talking a lot lately, largely thanks to Drive studio producing an animated adaptation for Uzumaki, and recently the author took part in a nice initiative organized by Viz Media.
In the video, which you can find below, it is shared on Twitter via the US publisher’s official account. Master Ito is shown carefully assessing drawings, all by different authors and in completely different styles, featuring some of the most iconic and beloved monsters on the net. Although he is himself the creator and creator of many of the most flamboyant and terrifying creatures in oriental comics, was surprised by some pictures, especially the annoying siren head, Long Horse and Lucid Dreams.
At the end of the video, one of several recorded in partnership with Viz Media, Junji Ito says that the scariest creation was just as his favorite the gigantic siren head in the middle of a cemetery, made by artist Trevor Henderson.
Recall that the terrifying Dissolving Classroom story was animated by a fan, and we leave you to announce an animated re-enactment for Junji Ito’s Masterworks Collection.
