Junji Ito is undoubtedly one of the great masters of Japanese comics and his works allow for many interpretations, an element that continues to attract fans around the world. Finally, his best stories will debut in anime Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabrepresented in a new image.
To celebrate the arrival of it Anthology series on Netflix on January 19, 2023, the master actually created the special illustration that you can see in the post below. As also indicated in the commentary preceding the picture, and as can be seen from the faces of the figures present in the drawing, the stories Tomie: Photos, Hanging Balloons, and Suchi’s Pet will be adjusted within the series. In the illustration, Ito has condensed the various supernatural elements that make up the three stories in question into a single image, and Tomie’s huge face, which actually turns out to be a balloon with a noose at the end, plays an almost central role.
A nice gimmick and disturbing at the same time, Junji Ito wanted to use it to inform the most ardent readers who can’t wait to find out how DEEN study has adapted some of the master of horror’s best stories after releasing the Junji Ito Collection series in 2018.
