Anime Expo 2022 has many surprises in store for Japanese animation lovers, including announcements and curiosities about various series. Studio MAPPA staff, fresh from the release of Jujutsu Kaisen 0, the 8th best anime movie of all time, talked about the second season of Jujutsu Kaisen in their panel while also focusing on the first.
With the new season slated for 2023, the MAPPA staff working on Jujutsu Kaisen actually studied the season 1 finale. Manabu Otsuka, Hiroshi Seko and Hiroaki Matsutaniand CEO of Studio MAPPA, screenwriter and producer of Jujutsu Kaisen, respectively, discussed with fans at Anime Expo 2022 and revealed several curiosities.
"The team reviews specific Jujutsu Kaisen scenes to discuss the animationsand is particularly lingering on Yuji and Nobara in the groins episodes"These are the first words of Manabu Otsuka, who then, when asked by the audience about the recent fights against Yuji and Nobara's curses, said:"The first things we considered when building the battles are the action and the timing of the music, both of which are very difficult to achieve perfectly given the importance of the last episode. The first season should end great."
After Otsuka, he spoke about the final Seko battle: "As a screenwriter, I had to work intensively with the team better adapt the dialogues of the manga to trade"Finally, Matsutani opened up about his role as producer in the finale of Jujutsu Kaisen:"I had to think a lot about the course of the fight, which included several monologues of the protagonists in the manga. I had to understand with Seko when to insert the characters' reflections between the most dynamic phases."
