Creating an entire world is extremely complex, a feat few writers even dare to attempt. Yoshihiro Togashi, in his Hunter X Hunterhas even added a new continent in the works, but it appears to be part of an old map along with all the sensei's imagination.

Even though Hunter x Hunter has disappeared from the pages of Weekly Shonen Jump, more or less important anecdotes and backstories within the saga can still be found on the web. Today one of the most accepted hypotheses regarding the inspiration of the shape of the earth Yoshihiro Togashithat differs from that of our planet as we know it stems from aold map from a japanese temple.

This was not even published until 1907Hawaiian Newspaper who told of this map as a thousand year old map. Therefore, when comparing the two countries that appeared at the end of the news, it seems quite obvious how the author played with the continents, rotating them and moving them here and there to complicate the resemblance. In fact, it is enough to dwell on a single element to find it next to it in the original version.

And you on the other hand, what do you think of that World of Hunter x Hunter inspired by this ancient Japanese map? Let us know with a comment below.
