Via his official page on Facebook, the platform MyAnimeList reported that the first episode of the anime adaptation of the manga was written by hero and illustrated by Daisuke Hagiwara, Horimiyabroke a wide variety of records that are in the platform's records including:

  • Top rated debut episode in the 2021 winter seasonwith 8.61 out of 10 points. Second place was occupied by Mushoku Tensei: reincarnation without workwith 8.34 out of 10 points.
  • Debut episode with less drops (marked as "Stop Watching") in the winter season 2021with a rejection of 0.25%. The second place was occupied by Mushoku Tensei: reincarnation without workwith 0.45% disapproval.
  • Most viewed debut episode in all of MyAnimeList history, with 104,340 registered users adding it to their list. Second place is now occupied by the first season of Dr. Stonewith 98,702 users.
  • Most viewed debut romantic comedy episode in all of MyAnimeList's history, with 104,340 registered users adding it to their list. The second season of Kaguya-sama: love is warwith 82,808 users.

With regard to the "Most Viewed Debut Episode in All MyAnimeList History" category, it should be noted that sequels have been omitted as they are not exclusively considered "debut". For example, Shingeki no Kyojin: The last season still holds the Premiere episode Most are displayed on the platform. 144,668 users add them to their list, followed by Boku no Hero Academia 3rd seasonwith 107,042 users.

Horimiya synopsis

Though high school student Kyouko Hori was admired for her kindness and academic prowess, she has hidden another side of her. Since her parents are often away from work because of work, Hori has to take care of her younger brother and do household chores without having time to meet outside of school.

Meanwhile, Izumi Miyamura is seen as a haunted otaku wearing glasses. However, he is actually a kind and incapable of learning. He also has nine piercings hidden behind his long hair and a tattoo on his back and left shoulder. By chance, Hori and Miyamura intersect outside of school and don't look what the other would expect. These seemingly opposing poles become friends and share a side they have never shown anyone before.
