Weekly Shonen Jump always brings out new hit series. At least a dozen new titles are added to the magazine's publication rotation each year, some belonging to already famous and established mangakas and others coming from less famous mangakas instead. In February, it was Akane Banashi's turn to make her debut.

In the past six months Akane Banashi never risked rejection and indeed, the editors of Weekly Shonen Jump repeatedly rewarded her for the positive poll response by giving her several color pages. So it's no coincidence that Eiichiro Oda from ONE PIECE recommended it, but it's not the only one.

The young rakugoka returns to the comic shop in the second volume, arriving in Japan on August 4th. Surrounding each volume, however, will be an exceptional recommendation: Evangelion's Hideaki Anno recommends Akane Banashi. If the mangakas support it, as do the big rakugoka in the industry, it's certainly another plus for the series to have another big name as famous in the industry as the director of Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Akane Banashi is also advertised with a cover and a color front page in Weekly Shonen Jump Magazine #38, out the second half of August.
