On the official site for the animated adaptation of the manga written and illustrated by Akane Shimizu, Hataraku Saibou ((Cells at work!) a commercial was released for the second season of the project entitled Hataraku Saibou !! (with two exclamation marks). The platelets can be seen in this new commercial.

The premiere of this second season is planned for January 9, 2021 in Japan. According to the distribution information for the Blu-ray / DVD volumes, it is confirmed with a total of eight episodes. The series will be broadcast parallel to the animated adaptation of the spin-off manga Hataraku Saibou Blackthat is produced by a different studio, but is broadcast consecutively in the same program block. Both productions will be broadcast by the platform in Mexico and Brazil Funimation.

Shimizu, for his part, publishes the original manga in the magazine Shonen Sirius monthly from the publisher Kodansha since March 2015 and has inspired a significant number of spin-off series based on other cell types. After a two-year hiatus, the manga was resumed on October 26th.
