At the end of the airing of the final episode of the studios’ original anime sunrise and project follow-up too Inuyasha, Hanyou no Yashahime: Sengoku Otogizoushi ((Yashahime: Princess half-demon) the production of a second season has been confirmed. The ad featured a new promotional image starring Towa Higurashi.

The series premiered in Japan in the fall 2021 season and had a total of twenty-four episodes with the platform Crunchyroll responsible for sales in Latin America (in addition to that of Viz Media) and the platform Funimation Sales in Mexico and Brazil. The overall project is a direct continuation of the franchise, based on the manga written and illustrated by Rumiko Takahashi, Inuyasha.

Production team

  • Teruo Sato took over the direction of the first season in the studios sunrise.
  • Katsuyuki Sumisawa was responsible for writing and overseeing the scripts for the first season.
  • Rumiko Takahashi managed the main character designs while Yoshihito hishinuma ((Yakitate !! Japan, Shinjuku Private Eyes) was responsible for adapting these designs to the animation.
  • Kaoru Wada ((Kindaichi Shounen no Jikenbo) was responsible for composing the soundtrack.

Hanyou no Yashahime Synopsis

Sesshomaru and Inuyasha’s daughters embark on an adventure that transcends time! In feudal Japan, the half-demon twins Towa and Setsuna are separated during a forest fire. Desperate for her younger sister, Towa finds a mysterious tunnel that transports her to modern Japan, where she is found and placed in the care of Kagome Higurashi’s brother Sota and his family.

Ten years later, the tunnel that connects the two eras will be reopened so that Towa can return to Setsuna, who has now become a youkai assassin with Kohaku. But the worst part is that Setsuna seems to have lost her memories and no longer recognizes Towa. Now, together with Inuyasha’s daughter Moroha and Kagome, the three travel between two eras on an adventure to regain a forgotten past.
