Commemorating the 30th anniversary of the studios first showing the original anime Gainax, Fushigi no Umi no NadiaThe launch of a Blu-ray BOX package has been announced in Japan for December 16.
The package, titled Fushigi no Umi no Nobody Blu-ray BOX STANDARD EDITION, includes the 39 original episodes that aired between April 1990 and April 1991, plus a few other perks including a special video about the production, a mini-anime entitled “Nadia Omake Gekijou” and another selection of special videos for the production. Also, each of the dealerships in Japan will provide a different illustration to its buyers.
Finally, it was announced that in 2021 a special exhibition entitled “Fushigi no Umi no Nadia-ten” will take place on the occasion of the 30th anniversary. A variety of materials related to the production of the series will be featured at this event, including original designs, art, and audio and video segments. Details will be announced later.
The piece premiered on April 13, 1990 and was produced by studios Gainax, Headed by Hideaki anno and scripts written by Hayao Miyazaki (although the latter is not counted in the series), 39 episodes in total. An 87-minute animated film was subsequently released in Japanese cinemas in June 1991 with the same production team.
Synopsis of Fushigi no Umi no Nadia
In 1889 the world is at the height of great technological discoveries. In the hands of mankind for the future, a sinister enemy named Gargoyle, obsessed with restoring the ancient empire of Atlantis, begins his plans for world domination. Nadia must fight with the help of a young inventor named Jean Roque Lartigue and Captain Nemo of the submarine Nautilus to save the world from the threat of Gargoyle and New Atlantis.
