On the official Twitter account for the anime adaptation of the manga written by HiRock and illustrated by Shinya Komi, EX-ARM, it was announced that the release date has been delayed.

The release was scheduled for July, however, due to the effects of the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic on production, a decision was made to delay it. The staff stated that the premiere will be "at least until October", however, they will announce the new official release date as soon as decided.

Shinya Komi and HiRock began publishing the manga in the magazine Grand Jump in February 2015 as a remake of his manga EX-VITA. The series moved to the app and website Shonen Jump Plus in December 2017.

Further, Atarou Kumo wrote the light novel EX-ARM the Novel Deus Ex Machina, which is the first adaptation to the manga novel. The story of it centers on Shin Kagurazaka, a city that averted a terrorist plot during the Tokyo Olympics.
