During the live broadcast “Onsen & Etotama ~ Nyan-Kyaku Banrai ~ Information ~ Minna-san ni Yorokonde Moraeru Jouhou or Kaikin Suru Nyasu! ~ “During the event AnimeJapan 2021, it was announced that the next short film of the original anime by Promote films and Shirogumi, Etotamawill premiere in Japan next May. Aina suzuki will play the main theme song entitled "Etonyanran".

The short film is titled Etotama: Nyan-Kyaku Banrai and it will only take thirty minutes. It had previously been announced that it would be a second season of the original anime, but they eventually changed the announcement towards this short film. In addition, a radio play with three episodes of twenty minutes each will be published, adding a total of ninety minutes of new content.

Summary of Etotama

Every 60 years heaven performs a sacred ritual known as ETM12. This custom involves the selection of worthy Eto-Musume, heavenly beings who represent various animals, in order to become one of the animals of the Chinese zodiac or an Eto-Shin. However, since the first ETM12 two thousand years ago, the original batch of Eto-shin has ruled without anyone being able to replace it.

Nyaa-tan is an Eto-Musume who represents the cat and wants to become a member of the zodiac during the current ETM12. To fulfill his ambition, he must collect twelve stamps, one for each Eto-Shin. To do this, you will have to face various challenges with the sun / slack or the divine energy generated by people's emotions. However, this task is not at all easy, since his powers as an Eto-Musume are far below the abilities of an Eto-Shin and therefore he needs a constant source of energy from a person.
