During the publication of the manga, Akira Toriyama wrote on some pages in certain situations what are the main characteristics of her hair: always black, always identical from birth to death. but this does not apply to Saiyan remedies.
In fact, Gohan often changes his haircut throughout the series, with his hair growing visibly in many situations. However, Goku’s son always retains the black hair trait, which is not the case with Trunks, the eldest son of Vegeta and Bulma. Because Trunks doesn’t have black hair like his father?
No clear explanation was ever given in Dragon Ball, except that Trunks must have identical hair to Bulma’s. It is obviously very likely that a medium-sized Saiyan inherits the characteristics of the mother’s hair. If with Gohan – and also with Goten – this detail is less visible because Chichi also has black hair, it is much more noticeable with Trunks, but also with his sister Bra. All four half Saiyans inherited their maternal genes, thereby losing the basic characteristics of Saiyan hair.
