On the occasion of the next fortieth anniversary of the series, a different mangaka creates one of the 42 covers of the adventure of Dragon ball. The protagonist of the fifth appointment on this particular project is Tatsuki Fujimoto, author of the famous Chainsaw Man.
In November 2024, Dragon Ball turns 40 And as a tribute to what is still considered the most revolutionary and influential Battle Shonen in history, Weekly Shonen Jump launched the project in August 2021 Dragon Ball Super Gallery. 42 different mangaka take part in this initiative, each of which is ready to redesign one of the 42 covers of the entire series.
Arrived at the fifth appointment to redesign one of the covers of Dragon Ball, it is Tastuki Fujimoto, the signature of Chainsaw Man, soon to be an anime series from Studio MAPPA, and Fire Punch. The cover chosen by the author is that of second volume, who armed Bulma with a shotgun and depicts Goku as a child riding a two-legged bird. Unlike most of the colleagues who decided to work on the project, Fujimoto has turned the cover upside down draws it with its own style. The perspective with which we see the protagonists is now almost frontal, and the characters themselves are very different from those we know.
Next to the illustration, the mangaka is on the left a Message to the fansin which he stated that long before he read Dragon Ball, he knew all of the heroes in history. When he reread Dragon Ball prior to Chainsaw Man’s release, he saw the real worth of Goku and how much the work was Pillar of the Shonen.
