The mangaka Toyotaro is a huge fan of the Dragon Ball world and together with Sensei Akira Toriyama runs the monthly serialization of Dragon Ball Super in Shueisha’s V-Jump magazine. As an admirer of the work of the Sensei, he inserts here and there references to cartoons and scenes that were previously inserted into the original comic.

There’s one in Dragon Ball Super’s chapter 66 as well, and you’ll have to reach the final stages of the chapter to find it. This tribute is found at the end of the fight with Molo, though Goku managed to get rid of the dangerous enemy successfully not without the help of his friends and especially Uub.

Once the fight is over Goku stands up and victoriously raises the thumb of his right handwith a smile on his face. However, this Dragon Ball Super cartoon is almost derived from a cartoon added to Dragon Ball by Akira Toriyama. User DBTeam identified the two cartoons and put them side by side in the tweet that you can see below.

Left is the Goku designed by Akira Toriyama, with a blue shirt and a raised thumb of his left hand and on the right the Goku of the latest chapter of Dragon Ball Super. ONE Tribute to an ancient Saiyan victoryDid you remember the scene?
